What DPI does the PNG render at?

The Resolution menu on the converter page offers 72 DPI for screen use, 150 DPI, which is the default, and 300 DPI for print. Higher resolutions give sharper but larger PNG files.
Can I convert only some pages of the PDF to PNG?

The Pages menu has two choices: all pages, which is the default, or the first page only. There is no way to type in a page range. For other pages, split the PDF into single pages with /pdf-split/ and convert the pages you need.
Will the PNG preserve PDF text searchability?

No — rasterizing PDF to PNG turns text into pixels. If you need searchable output, keep the PDF as a PDF and use a text-extraction tool instead. Image output (PNG) is for visual display or further image processing.
Is my PDF private during PNG conversion?

Yes. Uploaded PDF files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PNG are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
Will images embedded in the PDF appear correctly in the PNG?

Yes — embedded JPGs, PNGs, and inline graphics inside the PDF are rendered into the PNG at the page DPI. The page renderer treats them like every other page element.
Can I convert just the first page of a PDF as a PNG thumbnail?

Yes. Set the Pages menu to the first page only, and the converter returns a single PNG instead of one image per page. Choose 72 or 150 DPI if the image is meant as a small thumbnail.
Why does my PNG look pixelated when zoomed in?

Image formats such as PNG and JPG are made of pixels, so zooming in past their resolution shows the pixels. For sharper pages choose 300 DPI, the highest setting, or convert the PDF to SVG, which keeps text and vector drawings sharp at any zoom level.
