EPUB to GIF Transformation FAQ
At what resolution / DPI does the GIF render?
+
Pages are rendered at 150 DPI, which is crisp on screen and fine for most printing. There is no DPI setting for EPUB to GIF. For 72 or 300 DPI, convert the EPUB to PDF first, then use the PDF to GIF converter, which has a Resolution setting.
Can I convert just specific pages of the EPUB to GIF?
+
No. There is no page setting for EPUB files, so every page is rendered as its own GIF and you keep the ones you need. If you only want the first page, convert the EPUB to PDF and then use the PDF to GIF converter, whose Pages menu offers First page only.
Can I use the GIF images as previews or thumbnails?
+
Yes. The first page of an EPUB rendered as a GIF makes a good document thumbnail or preview card. Every page is converted here, so take the first GIF from the set, or convert the EPUB to PDF and use the PDF to GIF converter with First page only to get a single file.
Will the GIF be searchable or selectable text?
+
No — rasterizing the EPUB to GIF turns text into pixels, so the image is not searchable or selectable. That is intentional: image output is for pixel-exact visual sharing. If you need editable or searchable output, convert the EPUB to DOCX or keep it as text instead.
Is my EPUB private during conversion?
+
Yes. Uploaded EPUB files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted GIF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
How long does EPUB to GIF take for a long document?
+
It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.
Why does my GIF look pixelated when zoomed in?
+
You are viewing a raster image, so zooming past its native resolution shows the pixels. An EPUB renders at a fixed 150 DPI here. For a sharper GIF, convert the EPUB to PDF and use the PDF to GIF converter at 300 DPI.
