At what resolution / DPI does the PSD render?

Pages are rendered at 150 DPI, which is crisp on screen and fine for most printing. There is no DPI setting for DOC to PSD. For 72 or 300 DPI, convert the DOC to PDF first, then use the PDF to PSD converter, which has a Resolution setting.

Can I convert just specific pages of the DOC to PSD?

No. There is no page setting for DOC files, so every page is rendered as its own PSD and you keep the ones you need. If you only want the first page, convert the DOC to PDF and then use the PDF to PSD converter, whose Pages menu offers First page only.

Can I use the PSD images as previews or thumbnails?

Yes. The first page of a DOC rendered as a PSD makes a good document thumbnail or preview card. Every page is converted here, so take the first PSD from the set, or convert the DOC to PDF and use the PDF to PSD converter with First page only to get a single file.

Will the PSD be searchable or selectable text?

No — rasterizing the DOC to PSD turns text into pixels, so the image is not searchable or selectable. That is intentional: image output is for pixel-exact visual sharing. If you need editable or searchable output, convert the DOC to DOCX or keep it as text instead.

Is my DOC private during conversion?

How long does DOC to PSD take for a long document?

It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.

Why does my PSD look pixelated when zoomed in?

You are viewing a raster image, so zooming past its native resolution shows the pixels. A DOC renders at a fixed 150 DPI here. For a sharper PSD, convert the DOC to PDF and use the PDF to PSD converter at 300 DPI.
